1927 Ford Roadster, the "Fire Cracker" Gets Featured Treatment In July 2010 Issue Of "Street Rodder" Magazine
The 2010 Syracuse Nationals was abuzz with one of Tucci Hot Rod's newest creations; a 1927 Ford Roadster. The Roadster was this year's giveaway car at the show. Tucci Hot Rods is the eight-time official builder for the Syracuse event which is held each July and features an average of 7000 cars each year.
With a body gotten from New Age Motorsports (NAM) in Monroe, Connecticut and a unique drivetrain for the car, as well, and found gold when they talked to Russ Evans at Nordstroms Factory Performance in Garreston, South Dakota, choosing an '06 Pontiac Solstice Ecotec four-cylinder backed to a five-speed manual transmission.
After front and rear suspensions were completed the hood and grille, supplied by Speedway Motors, were put in place. Bomber seats, also from Speedway, were then covered in a basic black vinyl and fitted into the interior.
From there many modifications were made throughtout the course of building the car including a Duvall windshield frame originally fitted for a '32 Ford but modified by us to fit the '27. A gold-leaf number on the side and the flames on the hood were also applied to complete the car.

"Out of all the cars that I have built in my shop, the '27 track T roadster has been the most fun car to build and to drive. We found this car has gotten the attention of a wide range of people-from those who are into cars as well as people who are not."
As you can tell, for a giveaway car, this ride has a lot more going for it in comparison to a 1-800 Deuce roadster. And when we asked Dave to take the car out for a spin at the Syracuse Mile dirt track in order to have a few action photographs taken, we could hardly get him out of the car! The Syracuse Mile has been in operation since the turn of the last century, with legends including Ralph DePalma and Barney Oldfield to Rex Mays, Johnnie Parsons, and Al Unser Sr., all finding their way to the winner's circle at the facility.

Organizers of the Syracuse Nationals, the Right Coast Association, did as they had promised and gave the car away at their July event, and it went to Bob and Bev Good of Waterloo, New York. With the car weighing in at just over 1,700 pounds and equipped with a 185-horse motor, it is a car built for fun!
